The short answer
As your old cellphone number will be in the housing database, you should visit the municipal office where you made your application to update your details.
The whole question
Dear Athalie
I can't remember the cellphone number I used to apply for an RDP/BNG house, so I don't know how to follow up on my application.
The long answer
When you apply for an RDP house, the municipality will take down your cell phone number and it will be added to the housing database, so that the municipality can contact you about your RDP application when they need to.
It’s very important to tell the municipality when you change your cell phone number as they will use it to communicate with you by SMS. If they cannot contact you on the number they have, you run the risk of being removed from the waiting list.
Although the municipality would have given you a proof of registration (Form C) at the time, Form C does not record your cellphone number, but only your application number and the date you applied for an RDP house.
As your old cellphone number will be in the housing database, you should go to the municipal office where you made your application, taking your Proof of Registration (Form C) and ID with you. Tell the municipal official that you have forgotten what your old cellphone number was, and ask them to look up your application in the database, delete the old number and add your new cellphone number to the database.
Always note the name of the official you speak to, the office and the date, in case you have to take it further.
Wishing you the best,
Athalie
